About Indonesia eSIM

The ETravelSim Indonesia eSIM is a prepaid, data-only eSIM on the Telkomsel and XL networks, for Bali, Jakarta and the rest of Indonesia. Choose a data pack from 1 GB to 50 GB (30 days), or an Unlimited plan for 7, 10, 15 or 30 days with 4 GB of high-speed data per day, then unlimited data at 1 Mbps. Your QR code arrives by email straight after purchase, so you can install it at home and be online when you land. Validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in Indonesia.

How does Indonesia eSIM work?

After purchasing an ETravelSim product, customers will receive a unique QR code via email. This code is provided to the registered email ID used during the purchase. The email will also contain detailed instructions on how to install the product. To begin using the product, scan the QR code.

How will I get the QR code for my purchase?

Once you have booked the eSIM, you can expect to receive the QR code to your registered email ID almost instantly. This will come with a guide for installing the QR code, SMDP address, and activation code. Once the QR code is installed, you are good to go.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM, or embedded Subscriber Identity Module, is a virtual SIM card integrated into devices like smartphones and smartwatches. Unlike physical SIM cards, eSIMs are programmed remotely, enabling easy network switching and activation without needing physical swaps. They offer flexibility for changing carriers and plans, convenient international travel connectivity, and the management of multiple numbers on one device. While not universally supported, eSIM technology reduces the reliance on physical cards and simplifies the user experience by allowing remote provisioning of cellular services.

Can I use the Indonesia eSIM as my Bali eSIM?

Yes. The Indonesia eSIM runs on the Telkomsel and XL networks and works in Bali, including Canggu, Seminyak and Ubud, wherever those networks have coverage. You do not need a separate Bali eSIM.

Which networks does the Indonesia eSIM use?

It uses Telkomsel and XL, with 5G and LTE. Speeds and 5G availability depend on your location and the network.

Is the Indonesia eSIM really unlimited?

Unlimited plans have no data limit, but speed is managed. You get 4 GB of high-speed data per day, then unlimited data at 1 Mbps. The high-speed allowance resets every 24 hours.

Can I use hotspot with the Indonesia eSIM?

Yes. Hotspot works on all Indonesia eSIM plans, including Unlimited.

Which Indonesia eSIM plan should I choose?

For a week, choose Unlimited 7 days, or the 5 GB plan if you mostly use maps and messaging. For 10 to 15 days, choose Unlimited 10 or 15 days, or the 20 GB or 25 GB plan. For a month, choose Unlimited 30 days or the 50 GB plan. Hotspot works on all of these plans.

Can I make calls with the Indonesia eSIM?

The plan is data-only, so it has no phone number, calling minutes or SMS. You can make calls over data with apps such as WhatsApp and FaceTime. Keep your home SIM active for regular calls and bank messages.

What data options are available for the Indonesia eSIM?

Data packs of 1, 5, 10, 20, 25 and 50 GB, each valid for 30 days, and Unlimited plans for 7, 10, 15 or 30 days.

Do I need to turn on Data Roaming?

Yes. Turn on Data Roaming for the eSIM line when you arrive.

Do I need to register my phone's IMEI in Indonesia?

No. No IMEI registration is required to use this eSIM.

What happens if I run out of data?

Buy a recharge from the Indonesia eSIM Recharge page. The data is added to your existing eSIM within 15 minutes, and the recharge's validity starts on the date you recharge.

What is the refund policy?

Requests must reach us within 5 days of purchase. You get a full refund if the problem is ours, such as the email not arriving or a defect we cannot fix. If you ordered by mistake or your phone is not compatible, you get a refund minus USD 5, provided the eSIM has not been installed or used.

How to activate the eSim?

After purchase, you will receive a QR code by email. Scan it with your phone's camera to install the eSIM on your device. The eSIM activates, and your plan's validity starts, when it first connects to a network at your destination, so you can install it before you travel.

How do I install the eSIM on an iPhone?

Your QR code arrives by email right after purchase. Install it before you travel, while connected to Wi-Fi:

Open Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular) → Add eSIM.
Tap Use QR Code and scan the QR code from your email. If you can't scan it, tap Enter Details Manually and type the SM-DP+ address and activation code from the same email.
Label the new line (for example "Travel") and keep your home SIM as the primary line for calls and SMS.
When you arrive, choose the travel eSIM for Mobile Data. Turn on Data Roaming for that line if your plan requires it.
