This is the split almost no budget guide states plainly. Here is the same day, priced in both.
Same sea. Same food. Same month. Santorini and Mykonos cost 40 to 60 percent more than Naxos, Paros or Crete for equivalent quality.
The premium buys two real things: the caldera view and the scene. It does not buy better beaches, better food or better weather. Naxos and Paros have the whitewashed villages, the blue domes and the tavernas on the water too.

A mid-range ten days splits into five lines, and one of them exists in almost no other European budget.
Accommodation: about $570
A decent mid-range double runs €50 to €150 a night depending entirely on the island. Naxos, Paros and Crete sit at the bottom of that band, Santorini and Mykonos well above the top of it in July and August.

Within Athens, the metro is €1.40 a ride or €4.50 for a day pass, and it reaches both the airport and Piraeus port. On the islands, a scooter is €20 to €35 a day and a small hire car €35 to €60.
Sites and activities: about $210
Archaeological entry is good value in Greece. The Acropolis is €20 in summer and €10 from November to March. Most island sites are €4 to €12.
