Expect reliable signal at Taipei 101, Ximending, the MRT subway including underground stations, Shilin and Raohe night markets, the Tainan Anping district, and Kaohsiung's Lotus Pond. Taiwan Mobile has solid 4G/LTE and 5G coverage across Taipei, the HSR corridor, and the major tourist destinations where most travelers spend their time. Chunghwa is widely seen as having the broadest island-wide reach, but for trips focused on Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, the HSR, and main attractions, Taiwan Mobile covers the route.

The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM supports 4G, LTE, and 5G across Taiwan. 5G is widely deployed in Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, including underground MRT stations and dense city centers. Outside major cities, your phone falls back to 4G/LTE, which still handles streaming, video calls, and Google Maps navigation without issue. The 5G difference matters most for large file uploads, HD streaming, and remote work from Taipei or Taichung cafés.

For a typical 7-day Taiwan trip covering Taipei, Taichung, and a day trip to Jiufen or Sun Moon Lake, 5 GB to 10 GB is enough for most travelers. A 10 to 14-day trip adding Kaohsiung, Alishan, and Taroko Gorge with daily ride-hailing, Google Maps, and casual photo uploads usually needs 10 GB to 25 GB.
