Can I make calls and send texts on the Taiwan eSIM, and do I need a Taiwan phone number?

The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM is data-only. There are no incoming calls, no SMS, and no Taiwanese phone number assigned. Use WhatsApp, Line (Taiwan's most popular messaging app), or FaceTime over the data connection. Note: a few Taiwan-specific services need a local number — YouBike registration, the HSR T Express ticketing app, and some restaurant reservation phone lines. Most travelers work around this by using their home number with area code (no country code) at signup, which the YouBike and HSR apps usually accept.

Quick ways to confirm eSIM support
