Votre QR code arrive par e-mail juste après l'achat. Installez l'eSIM avant votre départ, en étant connecté au Wi-Fi :

1. Ouvrez Réglages → Données cellulaires → Ajouter une eSIM.
2. Touchez « Utiliser un code QR » et scannez le QR code reçu par e-mail. Si le scan ne fonctionne pas, touchez « Saisir les informations manuellement » et entrez l'adresse SM-DP+ et le code d'activation indiqués dans le même e-mail.
3. Nommez la nouvelle ligne, par exemple « Voyage », et gardez votre SIM habituelle comme ligne principale pour les appels et SMS.
4. À votre arrivée, choisissez l'eSIM de voyage pour les données cellulaires et activez l'itinérance des données pour cette ligne.

Expect reliable signal at Taipei 101, Ximending, the MRT subway including underground stations, Shilin and Raohe night markets, the Tainan Anping district, and Kaohsiung's Lotus Pond. Use it for navigation, ride-hailing, food delivery apps, and translation tools without interruption.

The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM works along the High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridor connecting Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Zuoying, with strong handover between cells at full HSR speed. Coverage holds at Alishan's main forest railway stations and the Taroko Gorge tourist viewpoints. Expect signal drops in deep mountain trail sections, inside Taroko's longer tunnels, and on remote forest roads — this affects every Taiwanese carrier equally. The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM is for Taiwan and works on the main island, including coverage at most major ferry terminals and arrival points on Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, Green Island (Lyudao), and Xiaoliuqiu. Coverage on these outer islands is more limited than on the main island and varies by carrier — main towns and ports stay connected, while remote beaches, hiking trails, and the smaller outlying islets often see signal drops. For Penghu and Kinmen-focused trips, expect city-area connectivity but plan offline navigation for everything else.

The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM runs on Taiwan Mobile, one of Taiwan's three major mobile networks alongside Chunghwa Telecom and FarEasTone. Taiwan Mobile has solid 4G/LTE and 5G coverage across Taipei, the HSR corridor, and the major tourist destinations where most travelers spend their time. Chunghwa is widely seen as having the broadest island-wide reach, but for trips focused on Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, the HSR, and main attractions, Taiwan Mobile covers the route.

The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM supports 4G, LTE, and 5G across Taiwan. 5G is widely deployed in Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, including underground MRT stations and dense city centers. Outside major cities, your phone falls back to 4G/LTE, which still handles streaming, video calls, and Google Maps navigation without issue. The 5G difference matters most for large file uploads, HD streaming, and remote work from Taipei or Taichung cafés.

For a typical 7-day Taiwan trip covering Taipei, Taichung, and a day trip to Jiufen or Sun Moon Lake, 5 GB to 10 GB is enough for most travelers. A 10 to 14-day trip adding Kaohsiung, Alishan, and Taroko Gorge with daily ride-hailing, Google Maps, and casual photo uploads usually needs 10 GB to 25 GB. Heavy users uploading content from night markets or working remotely should pick 50 GB or unlimited. Taiwan is a data-intensive country because the local society is heavily app-driven for everything from food orders to transit.

If you need to share data with a laptop or another phone — common for digital nomads working from Taipei, Taichung, or Kaohsiung cafés — pick a fixed plan in the 25 GB or 50 GB range. Tethered data draws from your plan allowance like any other usage.

Buying a local SIM at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) requires passport registration, payment in Taiwanese dollars (NTD) cash for some operators, and typically takes 15 to 30 minutes after a long flight. Critically, the airport SIM kiosks at Taoyuan are closed from midnight to 4:30 AM, so red-eye and late-night arrivals can't get a local SIM until later that day.
