An eSIM lets you stay connected while you travel without swapping physical SIM cards. Follow these steps to install and activate your eSIM on an Android phone.
Step-by-step guide to installing an eSIM on Android
1. Check compatibility
Most recent Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy and other Android models support eSIM. Not sure? Check device compatibility.
2. Buy your eTravelSim eSIM plan
You will receive a QR code by email instantly. You need it to install your eSIM.
3. Connect to Wi-Fi
Your phone needs a Wi-Fi connection to download the eSIM.
4. Open Settings
Open the Settings app on your phone.
5. Open your SIM settings
Go to Connections or Network & Internet (depending on your phone), then SIM manager or Mobile network.
6. Add eSIM
Tap Add eSIM (on some phones Add mobile plan or Download a SIM).
7. Scan the QR code
The camera opens. Scan the QR code from eTravelSim and confirm with Download or Install if asked.
8. Set up your eSIM
Back in your SIM settings, the new eSIM appears in the list. Select it for mobile data (and for calls and texts if your plan includes a number).
Troubleshooting tips
- Restart your phone if the eSIM doesn't activate straight away.
- Check your mobile data settings: make sure eTravelSim is selected for mobile data, and turn on Data Roaming for this line if your plan requires it (see your plan details).
