Will the ETravelSim Peru eSIM work at Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley?

The ETravelSim Peru eSIM works in Aguas Calientes (the base town for Machu Picchu) and across the Sacred Valley towns of Ollantaytambo, Pisac, and Urubamba on the Entel 4G/LTE network. Inside the citadel itself, signal is intermittent for every Peruvian carrier — terrain blocks tower line-of-sight, so use it for photos and offline-map reference rather than live navigation. On the Inca Trail and at Rainbow Mountain, expect long dead zones; download offline maps before you go.

Which Peru network does the ETravelSim eSIM run on, and is it good enough for travel outside Lima?

The ETravelSim Peru eSIM runs on Entel, one of Peru's four national operators. Entel performs strongest in Lima, Arequipa, and along the coast, and is fully usable in Cusco, Aguas Calientes, and the Sacred Valley towns where most travelers spend their time. If your itinerary is heavy on remote-Andes routes or jungle regions like Iquitos and the Amazon basin, expect more variable signal — true for every carrier in those areas. For standard city + Machu Picchu trips, Entel covers the route.

How much data do I need for a trip to Peru?

For a one-week Peru trip with maps, WhatsApp, photo uploads, and Uber, 3 GB to 5 GB is enough for most travelers; 10 GB covers a 10–14 day trip with regular Instagram posting. Heavy users — long bus rides through the Andes, video calls home, streaming on the night bus from Cusco to Arequipa — should pick 20 GB or unlimited. Bus Wi-Fi in Peru is unreliable, so plan to tether from your phone on overland legs, which uses more data than expected.

When does the validity period start — when I buy it, when I install it, or when I land in Peru?

Validity on the ETravelSim Peru eSIM starts the day you start using it in Peru, not the day you buy or install it. You can purchase weeks ahead, install the QR code at home before you fly, and the timer only begins once your phone connects to the Entel network on arrival. This is the safer option than installing on arrival — you'll know before you board the plane that the eSIM is set up correctly. Just don't delete the profile after installation; reinstallation may not be possible.

Can I make calls and receive texts on the ETravelSim Peru eSIM, or keep my home number active?

The Peru eSIM is data-only — no incoming calls, no SMS, no Peruvian phone number. To make calls, use WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, or Zoom over the eSIM data. Your home SIM stays active in your phone simultaneously (dual-SIM), so calls and texts to your usual number still come through, but turn off cellular data on that line to avoid roaming charges. Set ETravelSim as your default mobile data line and enable Data Roaming in settings.

Is hotspot and tethering allowed on the ETravelSim Peru eSIM?

Yes — hotspot and tethering are allowed on every Peru eSIM plan, with no separate cap or surcharge. Share data with a laptop, tablet, or a travel companion's phone as needed. On unlimited plans, hotspot use counts toward the 4 GB daily high-speed allowance like any other data; after that you can keep tethering at the reduced 1 Mbps speed. This matters because some competitors restrict hotspot to 500 MB per day on their unlimited plans, which runs out fast on a laptop.

What is the fair use policy on the unlimited Peru data plan, and what speed do I get after the daily cap?

The unlimited Peru eSIM plan gives you 4 GB per day at full 4G/LTE speed, then unlimited data at 1 Mbps for the rest of the day, resetting at midnight local time. 1 Mbps is enough for maps, messaging, ride-hailing, and email throughout the day; for HD streaming or large uploads, use the 4 GB high-speed window. ETravelSim discloses these terms upfront on the product page — many unlimited plans cap at 3 GB per day or don't publish their throttling threshold at all.

Why not just buy a local Peru SIM card at the airport when I land?

Buying a local SIM in Peru has gotten difficult for tourists since 2024 — official Claro, Movistar, and Entel stores require a Peruvian national ID and biometric fingerprint registration to issue a prepaid line, which most foreign visitors can't satisfy. Lima airport kiosks are tourist-priced (often 3–4× city rates), and street-vendor SIMs are registered under someone else's name, which creates renewal and refund problems later. An eSIM installed before you fly avoids all of this — connection works the moment your plane lands.

What if the eSIM doesn't activate or stops working in Peru — what's the refund and support process?

If the ETravelSim Peru eSIM fails to activate or you lose connection, first try the standard fixes: toggle Airplane Mode on and off, confirm Data Roaming is enabled, and verify ETravelSim is selected as the default mobile data line. If it still doesn't work, contact support via WhatsApp at +65 9236 1258, the on-site chat, or support@etravelsim.com with your order number — support is available 24/7 and prioritizes order-number queries. Refund eligibility follows the published refund policy; for unused, uninstalled eSIMs, contact support before installation to keep options open.
