To activate an eSIM on an iPhone, follow these general steps. Remember that the exact process might vary slightly depending on your carrier and iOS version. These are the steps you would typically follow:

Check Compatibility: Ensure your carrier supports eSIM activation and your iPhone model is compatible with eSIM technology.

Obtain an eSIM QR Code: Contact your carrier and request an eSIM activation QR code or activation details.

The ETravelSim Taiwan eSIM supports 4G, LTE, and 5G across Taiwan. 5G is widely deployed in Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, including underground MRT stations and dense city centers. Outside major cities, your phone falls back to 4G/LTE, which still handles streaming, video calls, and Google Maps navigation without issue. The 5G difference matters most for large file uploads, HD streaming, and remote work from Taipei or Taichung cafés.

For a typical 7-day Taiwan trip covering Taipei, Taichung, and a day trip to Jiufen or Sun Moon Lake, 5 GB to 10 GB is enough for most travelers.
